Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA)

Please note, we can only accept referrals for those who are currently subject to the Mental Health Act in an inpatient setting (except for individuals under sections 4, 5(2), 5(4), 135 and 136) or those who are Conditionally Discharged restricted patients, subject to guardianship or Community Treatment Order. Informal patients are eligible if they are being considered for treatment to which Section 57 applies, under the age of 18 and being considered for ECT (Electro Convulsive Therapy) or any other treatment to which Section 58A applies. Referrals which fall outside that criteria will not be accepted.
